Pearl Jam, Boston Offset N.C. Concerts Over Anti-LGBT Legislation

Pearl Jam is adding a list such as The Boss, who continue to show support for LBGT communities in states enacting legislation that is discriminatory and their name.

The stone band announced late Monday they will be devoting their Wednesday show in Raleigh, N.C. due to   the state’s new “toilet bill,’ widely perceived as discriminatory against gays and transgender people.

In a  statement, Pearl Jam called the legislation “a despicable piece of legislation that encourages discrimination against an entire group of American citizens. . .We want America to be a place where nobody could be turned away from a business for those who they love or fired from their job for who they are.”

Monday, the rock band Boston announced they’re canceling three upcoming shows in the nation.

North Carolina recently enacted a law that forces transgender individuals and bars counties and cities from protecting gays from discriminationto use public bathrooms to the gender. The legislation prevents LGBT individuals to sue human rights violations in the workplace within.

The bill, composed,  wrote Boston guitarist Tom Scholz on the group’s Facebook webpage, “has the appearance of an oppressive discriminatory law against a tiny minority, who have to take care of a narrow-minded world concerning issues beyond their hands which they did nothing to bring upon themselves. Other characteristics of the new law possibly promote bigotry.”

Boston was made to play on May 4, 5 and 6 at Greensboro, Charlotte and Raleigh.   Scholz apologized to the group’s fans who bought tickets, adding that “hopefully the sacrifices we are all making here will inspire individuals to do the ideal thing in the future.”

Boston and Pearl Jam combine an increasing number of performers canceling shows over state legislation that are discriminatory.

Springsteen and the E Street Band canceled his April 10 concert at Greensboro, N.C.
Ringo Starr canceled a June 18 concert at Cary, N.C., in protest of the state’s new “bathroom bill,’ too.
Adams canceled his April 14 concert in Biloxi over  the recently enacted legislation that allows religious groups and a few private companies to refuse service to couples on spiritual grounds of Mississippi.
Cirque du Soleil  lasted two of  its own touring shows ceases in North Carolina: Ovo  in Greensboro on April 20-24 and at Charlotte on July 6-10, and   TORUK – Avatar  in Raleigh on June 22-26.
