‘Smell Of Poo’: Moms Are Loving This ‘Shape Of You’ Parody Video
A mother’s parody movie of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Length of You’ is getting a lot of attention for revealing the cluttered side of parenting.
Sophie McCartney (yes, Paul is her second cousin!) Changed the lyrics of Sheeran to signify mom life has wreak havoc on her body and sanity in a video posted on Wednesday on Facebook.
“I can not believe it is at nearly 10M views on Facebook in just 24 hours,” McCartney said in an email address.
McCartney of all North West, England, shows scenes from her afternoon with daughter Evelyn and son Jack — feeding, changing diapers and trying to fit into her jeans.
She flips the lyrics and gets real in the chorus:
“I gag at the smell of poo, in the sight of smoke, also. And even though my heart loves you, I’m annoyed with the things you do. Last night you were in my area and now my bedsheets smell like poo. Every day discovering something brand new. What have you done to my body?”
McCartney, who authors the parenting blog Tired ‘N Tested, told USA TODAY she has been inundated with reactions from moms who can relate.
“Usually everyone is simply thrilled that they are not alone in their daily parenting struggles,” she explained.
Paul even “loved it,” she explained.
“[He] was really impressed and thinks he has a very talented little sibling,” McCartney said. “Also, wondered whether my bed sheets really smell of poo.”
McCartney believes the movie has been seen by Sheeran’s management, but is uncertain whether he has watched it.
Here’s Sheeran’s version:
